13. Conceptual Framework
From the Theory of Bernard Weiner Attribution of Motivation, the researchers’ used its variables and modified a few concepts to come up with a concise framework.
In this case, the learner’s stimulus is influenced by two factors, the external, unstable factors and the internal, stable factors. The external factor is largely best with conflicts. It is a condition which is beyond the learners’ capacity, and provokes inferiority within. Difficulties would come to surface and the learner creates impediments as a way of response of coping. (appropriate theories to your variables)

Chapter III: Theoretical , Conceptual and Operational Framework
In search of the effects brought of active nightlife to ones studies, specifically the studies of college students, the researchers assessed and presumed that surrounding influences of the student can affect his decisions in which could drive him to indulge to nightlife .Probing for theories that could be used for the basis of the results, the researchers came to ground with Bernard Weiner’s Attribution Theory of Motivation.
Attribution Theory of Motivation
The Attribution theory of motivation states that a person’s reasons, alibis and vindications about self and others influence motivation, and all factors influencing a student’s motivation can be classified as Effort, Ability, Luck and Level of difficulty. The theory as it applies to motivation, describes that a persons own perception or attribution for success or failure determine the amount of effort the person will expend on that activity in the future.
Effort and Ability are classified as internal and stable factors because it is given and present within each learner and its consistentency is highly dependent on the learner itself. Luck and Level of Difficulty on the other hand is external and unstable factors that are beyond the control of the learner and are dependent on the external influences.
The significant assumption of this theory is that people are interpreting their environment in way that they can perceive themselves in a positive image and situation. By that way, they automatically vent their success and failures to factors which make them feel comfortable with themselves. In general, if a learner succeeds and achieve their goals i.e. academic achievement they will attribute their success to their efforts and abilities. However when the learner fails, he attributes his failure to external forces which is beyond his control such as luck.
Self – Handicapping Concept of Attribution Theory
The self – handicapping attribution states that a learner makes impediments when obstacles are hard to handle. These impediments which are external attribution are developed and created by the learner himself especially when he cannot overcome pressure and tries to avoid risks. These impediments would run from refusement to practice (e.g. develop and enhance oneself), reducing effort, to alcohol and drug use. Deliberately, impediments would become an impairing agent that hinders a learner’s success The learners capability to study is interfered thus his reducing motivation affects his performances. Impediments are created when ego and personal perception of the learner is threatened.
.
Theoretical Framework
The theory of Bernard Weiner stated that a learner’s motivation is influenced by factors such as luck, ability, effort and level of difficulty. Under the luck and level of difficulty, an external influence which are unstable and out of the learners control is where self- handicapping develop. Handicapping oneself due threat of ego and self esteem gives the learner a venue for creating impediments. These impediments are from reducing effort to alcohol and drug use. These impediments greatly affect the academic performance of a learner.
Operational Framework
The motivation of the student to study is dependent on his personal aspiration and endeavors to succeed. The same way with his surrounding influences and conditions that is always present in his environment in general.
School, social and other forms of expectation that could pressure a student influence his decisions especially when he doesn’t want to fail the expectations. Going out partying is a way of response of the student to the pressure he is in. The student’s response directly affects his academic status specifically his habits of studying, attendance of class and his actual grades. These actions brought the student to himself create more venues for him to minimize his progress.
